Residents of Totton & Eling are invited to have their say on Government proposals to create a new mayoral combined county authority for Hampshire, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight.
The proposed authority would cover a large and varied area, including urban centres, coastal towns and rural communities, and would be led by a directly elected mayor.
Under the plans, certain powers and funding would be transferred from central government to this new regional body. These may include areas such as transport, housing, skills, and economic development.
Supporters of the proposal say it could enable more local control over services and funding decisions. Others have raised concerns about how the needs of smaller towns and rural areas will be represented within such a large and diverse region.
Residents are encouraged to explore the information available and take part in the public consultation.
