Bleed Control Kits Installed in Totton & Eling

Life-Saving Equipment for Medical Emergencies

In a proactive step to enhance public safety, Totton & Eling Town Council has installed three life-saving bleed control kits on Council Facilities and Local Buildings throughout the area. These kits, which can help stem traumatic bleeding in the event of a medical emergency, are designed for immediate use by the public in high-stakes situations.

The kits are located at:

Why Bleed Kits Matter

Major injuries, whether from accidents or incidents such as car crashes, workplace injuries, or even weaponised attacks, require swift action to prevent catastrophic blood loss. The newly installed bleed kits are equipped to handle severe injuries, including full amputations, giving bystanders the tools to save lives before emergency responders arrive.

What’s Inside the Kit?

Each bleed control kit, housed in a secure, waterproof, and highly-visible cabinet, includes:

  • Large Trauma Dressing for moderate bleeding
  • Celox Gauze for controlling severe haemorrhage
  • Fox Seal Chest Seal for managing chest wounds
  • Tactical Mechanical Tourniquet to stop bleeding from limbs
  • Disposable gloves, emergency scissors, foil blanket, CPR face mask, and a marker pen

These kits are designed for easy use, with step-by-step instructions inside and the option for a 999 operator to guide the user through the process.

The goal is for members of the public to be able to provide essential first aid until paramedics arrive.

Making Our Community Safer

Totton & Eling Town Council is committed to improving public safety by investing in initiatives like these bleed kits. We encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with the location of the kits, as quick access and action in an emergency could make all the difference.
